FROM STIGMA TO STRENGTH

Most people think that if you’ve been diagnosed with HPV, it means you’re promiscuous, you’ve engaged in risky behavior, or you’re somehow “dirty”, but what most people DON’T know is that the virus is very robust and taking precautions isn’t always enough. So, take a deep breath and read on, so you can get the info you need to make the best choice for your care

According to the CDC, there is no treatment for the HPV virus itself.

While there are various treatments for health problems caused by HPV including genital warts, cervical precancer and cancer, and other HPV-related cancers, there are no FDA approved treatments for the virus itself. Although progression to cancer is rare, there is (understandably) a lot of fear and uncertainty associated with a diagnosis, because it’s impossible to tell which infections will clear on their own and which will progress to cancer, so the lack of options can be disheartening for people facing persistent infections.

FACTS ABOUT PERVISTOP

The first, randomized controlled trial of Pervistop™ included 40 female patients with persistent HPV infections and low-grade cervical lesions (LSIL). 20 of the patients were treated with Pervistop™, 1 tablet per day for 3 months while 20 were left untreated (control group). After the 3 months, the following was shown in the Pervistop™ group**:
  • LSIL reduced in 85% of the patients
  • 85% of women had a negative HPV-DNA test
  • Most people experienced no or minor side effects (gastrointestinal disturbances)
  • Results were statistically significant (p<0.0001 vs. control group)

**These results must be replicated in a larger clinical trial, with more patients to confirm safety and effectiveness

SUMMARY:

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a common sexually transmitted infection worldwide.
  • Often, the infection has no symptoms and goes away on its own, but if it persists, it can lead to cancer in both men and women.
  • Vaccination is the main way to prevent HPV, but not all HPV types are covered by vaccines.
  • Some natural supplements might help prevent ongoing HPV infections and treat HPV-related issues.
  • The scientists looked at the roles of certain natural substances in HPV infection, like epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), folic acid, vitamin B12, and hyaluronic acid (HA).
  • EGCG from green tea can help stop HPV-related cancer-causing substances (oncogenes and oncoproteins).
  • Folic acid and vitamin B12 are important vitamins that might help control HPV’s effects on genes to prevent cancer.
  • HA might stop the HPV virus from entering damaged areas in mucous membranes and skin.
  • Combining EGCG, folic acid, vitamin B12, and HA could be a promising way to manage ongoing HPV infections.

**NOTE: This scientific review was NOT a clinical study which tested the safety and effectiveness of Pervistop™, but rather a review of the ingredients included in the formulation and how they may work on HPV. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

An “in-vitro study” is when scientists do experiments and tests on cells or tiny parts of the body in a lab dish, instead of inside a living person or animal.

SUMMARY**:

  • The human papilloma virus (HPV) is responsible for most cases of cervical cancer worldwide.
  • While many HPV infections go away on their own and pre-cancerous lesions can heal, some infections persist and might lead to more serious cervical cancer.
  • The study aimed to see what happens when a combination of substances (EGCG, FA, B12, and HA) is used on HPV-positive cervical cancer cells (HeLa cells).
  • The combination of these substances caused a notable increase in cell death (apoptosis) and in the activity of the p53 gene, which helps prevent cancer. At the same time, the expression of the E6/E7 genes, linked to HPV infection, decreased.
  • This research suggests that the combination of EGCG, FA, B12, and HA might have a beneficial effect against HPV infection by increasing cell death and p53 gene activity in HPV-infected cervical cells (HeLa cells).

**NOTE: Because this study was done on cells in a lab, and not on humans, one cannot relate the results to how the product would work in humans. *IMPORTANT NOTE: So far, there has only been one published, controlled clinical trial of 40 patients using Pervistop. More trials need to be done to confirm safety and efficacy. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
